At the Evidence Resource Center, we aim to help Pennsylvania’s school communities thoughtfully apply high-quality, relevant research to their own settings. Explore these topics to brush up on research basics, ESSA tiers, and the fundamentals of evidence-based decision making.

ERC Outcome Domains

Findings in a research study are called outcomes – they capture what is changing as a result of a strategy, intervention, or activity. Outcomes in similar skill or growth areas are organized into outcome domains, which can make it easier to find research evidence in the areas you care about. Outcome domains are then organized into broad categories(such as Math or Student Attendance). Categories might have many domains, because there are many facets of a category that might improve as a result of a strategy or intervention.

Use the table below to explore how the ERC Outcome Domains are organized. These domains can be selected from the outcome domain menu on the search page, to focus your search for evidence that is relevant to your needs.

Our outcome domain list was last updated in December 2024. We add to our domains as new evidence emerges.
